  • Getting into the Venue

    The Theatre Royal Drury Lane main entrance is situated on Catherine Street. There are 4 steps up into the foyer from street level, through double doors. The steps are not clearly marked and there are no handrails. A drop off point is located around the corner on Russell Street.

    An alternative, level access entrance is located on Russell Street with venue staff available to assist at the doors. This entrance leads to wheelchair spaces in the Stalls as well as an adapted toilet.

    A lift is available to all levels of the theatre, and non-transferable wheelchair spaces can be booked on all levels except the Balcony.

    Customer Assistance

    Staff are on hand to assist with navigation and are constantly manning the doors. Those who wish to use the alternative entrance must ring the doorbell on Russell Street to attract attention. The adapted toilet at this entrance is locked and must be opened by a member of staff.

    Transfers are available to any aisle seat within the Stalls and staff are able to store wheelchairs in the cloakroom for the duration of the performance. An at-seat service is available for patrons who are unable to access the bars.

    For those who require special assistance or wish to book wheelchair spaces, it is important to book in advance and notify the theatre of any special requirements. Discounts are available for access patrons and their companions.

    Section Accessibility

    Stalls

    The Stalls can be accessed step-free via the accessible entrance on Russell Street, leading directly to non-transferable wheelchair spaces. This section is the most suitable for those with limited mobility.

    From the main entrance on Catherine Street, there are 10 steps into the foyer. Step-free access ramps, suitable for wheelchair users, are in place from the foyer to row M of the Stalls.

    All steps in the Stalls are highlighted.

    Transfers are available into any aisle seat and staff are able to store wheelchairs in the cloakroom for the duration of the performance.

    Royal Circle

    There are 39 steps up to the rear of the Royal Circle, or a lift from the foyer to row L.

    Once in the section, there are two steps between each row, with handrails on the far left and right aisles. The central aisles do not have handrails.

    Grand Circle

    The Grand Circle is accessible via 66 steps up from the theatre foyer. The tops of the stairs in each group are highlighted. Step-free access via the lift is available to the low-numbered side of row E, with a further two - three steps up and down to rows D and F.

    Balcony

    The Balcony is accessible via 112 steps up from the ground floor. The lift takes visitors to the front of the Balcony, with two steps up to row B. There is no step-free access in this section.
