  • Getting into the Venue

    The Lyric Theatre main entrance is situated on Shaftesbury Avenue and is can be accessed via 4 steps up from street to foyer. A drop-off point is available outside of the entrance.

    The alternative step-free entrance leads directly to the Dress Circle Boxes, where wheelchair spaces are available. Wheelchair users should report to the main entrance and a member of staff will direct them to the accessible entrance.

    All other sections of the theatre must be reached by stairs, as there is no customer lift.

    Customer Assistance

    Those who wish to use the alternative entrance must notify staff upon arrival, who will assist them. An Usher will accompany wheelchair users and their companions to the accessible entrance. Staff are on hand throughout the theatre to assist with navigation.

    Transfers are available and wheelchairs can be stored for the duration of the performance. An at-seat service is available for those who are unable to access the bars.

    How to Book

    For those who require special assistance or wish to book wheelchair spaces, it is important to book in advance and notify the theatre of any special requirements. Access seating is held from general sale for each performance, and you can select up to two seats at a discounted rate of 50% off per person, which is the equivalent to Carer Goes Free.

    Section Accessibility

    Stalls

    The Stalls can be accessed via 24 steps down from the foyer. This section is not recommended for those with limited mobility.

    Extra legroom can be found in seats D1, D20, E1 and E24.

    Dress Circle

    There is level access to the Dress Circle from the foyer and the section can also be accessed step-free from the street via the alternative entrance on Shaftesbury Avenue. There is level access to wheelchair spaces in Boxes C, D and E, which all have space for 1 wheelchair user and their companion.

    Extra legroom can be found in the Boxes, due to movable seating. Aisle seats and the first row of the Circle also offer more legroom.

    Grand Circle

    The Upper Circle can be accessed via 25 steps up from the foyer, without a customer lift. This section is not suitable for those with limited mobility and there is very limited legroom.

    Balcony

    The Balcony can be accessed via 60 steps up from the foyer. With no customer lift, this section is not suitable for patrons with limited mobility. This section can seem very steep and narrow, with extremely limited legroom.
