Enjoy a Smash Hit New Play With Red Pitch Tickets

Direct from the Bush Theatre, five-star play Red Pitch transfers to the West End’s Soho Place for a strictly limited season. This “remarkable [...] next-level coming-of-age story” (The Stage) about three football-obsessed teenage boys living amid South London’s gentrification played two sold-out seasons at the Bush Theatre and won several accolades including The Stage Debut Awards - Most Promising Playwright, Critics Circle Theatre Awards - George Devine Award and Off West End Awards - Most Promising Playwright.

Don’t miss the chance to see this “masterclass” (North West End) debut play from Tyrell Williams on the West End’s most dynamic stage!

What is Red Pitch about?

In Red Pitch, South London, teenagers Omz, Bilal and Joy are playing football. They’ve been meeting up for a kickabout together for as long as they can remember, pretending they’re on the World Cup squad or winning the FA Cup. But things in their neighbourhood are changing. Local shops are closing, flats are demolished as new, more expensive ones rise in their place. Old residents are struggling to stay afloat with the cost of living in the place they grew up, and others have cut their losses and already left. And now, the small football pitch where laughter, friendships and memories have been forged is under threat.

Playwright Tyrell Williams’ fast-paced, snappy play is a powerful story of brotherhood, gentrification, regeneration and the communities caught in the middle. It premiered at one of London’s best and most influential venues for new writing, Bush Theatre in Shepherd’s Bush, in 2022 and was an immediate hit, earning five-star reviews and some of the biggest Off West End awards including Evening Standard Theatre Awards - Best Writer.

It is directed by Daniel Bailey (Bush Theatre: August in England, Birmingham Rep: Blue/Orange) in an “energetic, artfully staged production” (Evening Standard) that expertly mixes comedy and pathos.
