Classic musical reimagined for modern audiences

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, one of the most celebrated musicals of all time, is thrillingly reimagined in the unique surroundings of Regent's Park Open Air Theatre this summer.

The musical follows the tragic romance of the young millworker Julie Jordan and carnival worker Billy Bigelow. Despite his reputation as a serial womaniser, Billy decides to settle down with Julie and stays out of trouble, prior to learning that she is expecting her first child. Events quickly start to spiral as Billy is desperate to provide for his family. Carousel is a powerful story of love, passion and redemption.

Voted the best musical of the 20th century by TIME Magazine, Carousel continues to enjoy worldwide success with a recent Broadway incarnation winning multiple Tony Awards. The musical features iconic songs including "You'll Never Walk Alone", "If I Loved You" and the rousing finale of act one, "Soliloquy".

The Regent's Park Open Air Theatre production is directed by Timothy Sheader, with choreography by Drew McOnie. Carly Bawden plays Julie Jordan alongside Declan Bennett as Billy Bigelow. Further casting includes Joanna Riding as Nettie Fowler. Riding previously won an Olivier Award for her performance as Julie Jordan in the acclaimed 1992 production at the National Theatre.
