About the Bronco Billy Musical

In 1979, Bronco Billy’s travelling Wild West show is hit by waning interest and ticket sales, and it’s a tough job keeping the troupe’s spirits high as they face up to the financial strain. But an unexpected twist arrives in the form of Manhattan heiress Antoinette Lily. She’s on the run for her life after being deserted by her scheming husband, and soon tags along with this rag-tag group of entertainers.

Based on Clint Eastwood’s 1980 film, the Bronco Billy musical is an upbeat story about finding family, love and chasing your dreams. It premiered at the Skylight Theatre Company in Los Angeles in 2019 and in 2020 it won the Ovation Awards for Best Book (Original Musical) and Best Lyrics and Musical (Original Musical). Now UK audiences have the chance to enjoy its zany, joyful story for themselves in London!

Bronco Billy has a book by the film’s original writer, Dennis Hackin, music and lyrics by Chip Rosenbloom and John Torres, and additional lyrics by Michele Brourman.

The UK premiere is directed by Hunter Bird, who directed this “spectacular” (Broadway World) show in Los Angeles to great acclaim.

Emily Benjamin takes on the starring role in Bronco Billy, with full casting to be announced.

Benjamin has appeared as alternate Sally Bowles in the West End’s 5-star Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club since it opened in 2019, and now hangs up the glitzy costumes in favour of stirrups and a cowboy hat! Her other credits include Bat Out of Hell and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
