What is A Chorus Line about?

NYC, 1975. On an empty Broadway stage, seventeen performers are being put through the gruelling final stages of an audition to become part of a new musical’s chorus line. It’s an opportunity that could change their lives, but there are only eight spots available.

This groundbreaking musical was a shot in the arm for Broadway when it premiered in the 1970s, with creator Michael Bennett using real-life testimonies to tell the stories of dancers in the performing arts industry. Late-night recording sessions are transformed into a powerful narrative about theatre’s unsung heroes and supporting players, as they share stories of ambition, shattered dreams, and the cost of trying to make it to the stage.

Cast and Creatives

This acclaimed revival comes to London after opening at Leicester Curve in 2021 under director Nikolai Foster (White Christmas). It has a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante and features iconic songs from Marvin Hamlisch and Edward Kleban including “I Hope I Get It”, “Nothing” and “What I Did For Love” that guide us through the breathtaking highs and crushing lows of the showbiz life.

Adam Cooper (Singin’ in the Rain; Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake) and Carly Mercedes Dyer (The Drifters Girl; Anything Goes; Dreamgirls) reprise their roles as Zach and Cassie as the show heads to the West End.
