Balcony Guide

The Balcony sits high above the stage, and despite having clear views looks directly down on the action. Those who have a fear of heights should not select to sit here! There is a larger safety bar that runs the length of the balcony, affecting the view for those in the front row, as well as the row behind. If you are willing to peer through the middle this may be less of a problem. The rake of the section makes it feel particularly high and unsteady, but it is certainly an experience! Legroom is tight throughout this whole section, and the seats are not as comfortable as other levels.

Horrible, was not warned that we would be sitting in seats that go above the ceiling. Sat there for a few minutes then left, I can't stand heights. I was told by staff that we could sit in the bar and watch it on a TV which I did because I had my daughter with me and she wanted to see it.. As a note the view from the seats was not good you would have to lean forward so you could see the stage.

One of the worst seats in a theatre I have been to. The rail going across the top of the row blocks any slight you have for the stage, unless you stand up or duck down for the entire show. Avoid these seats if you can!

We were in a group of 3 of medium build and 5 feet 6 inches, or over, in height. Although the Seating Plan didn't mention there was a restrictive view so we went ahead and booked seats E21, E22 and E23 we found that the front and left side of the stage was out of view so a great deal of the main cast were often unseen. Avoid these seats at all cost.

I bought this ticket from a booth, it was not sold as restricted but there is a slight over hang that causes obstruction. The Novello is not a huge theatre and I did not feel to far away, however it does feel high. Seats were ok but leg room a little tight. I would not sit up there again, I would go for the slips again next time over these.

We booked tickets via the Novello theatre and discount theatre for mamma Mia seats E 1+2 and F1+2. The seats were not classed as restricted view on either of the websites otherwise we would not have booked them. It was obvious from the moment we were seated that these were restricted view seats. The whole of the right hand corner of the stage could not be seen, so anything taking place in that part of the stage was missed. Many people in the rows B to D were leaning forward to see this adding to the obstruction of our view. Please be aware when booking these seats that a large portion of the performance takes place to the right of the stage and therefore will be missed. We personally would not have booked these seats had we known and feel that it spoilt our overall experience of the show.

Had a booking with London Theatre Breaks and paid for 4 seats E10-13 in the balcony, however upon arriving at the theatre to collect these tickets from the box office we were given tickets for seats A2 & A3 and AA22 & A23, upon querying this they informed us they had double booked our seats and we now had to sit in 2 seats at opposite sides of the theatre which were with restricted view - however upon sitting in these seats there was NO view at all , you cannot actually see the stage from your seat !, when requesting to be moved to seats obviously not taken we were informed we would have to in fact pay for these other seats (on top of the price paid for the original tickets) the Manager was most unhelpful and stated that we either returned to our seats with no view or leave the theatre. Be very aware and double check your tickets before and during booking, and upon collection as the theatre obviously have no morals or conscience !! they are just in it for the money. We left the show (Mama Mia on 7th October 2012) 20 minutes into the show after realising they were not going to offer us alternative seats.
